Regular Diesel Engine Inspections

Daily Inspection

(1) Inspect appearance.
(2) Check for vibration and unusual sounds.
(3) Check bearing temperature.
(4) Check lubricating oil pressure.
(5) Check lubricating oil level.
(6) Drain air from tank.
(7) Check exhaust gas color

Monthly Inspection

(1) Clean fuel filter.
(2) Clean lubricating oil filter.
(3) Oil all sliding parts.
(4) If the unit has not been in use for an extended period of time, operate for approximately 10 minutes.

Every 3 months

(1) Check fuel tank drainage.
(2) Use a test pump to confirm operation of fuel jet valves.
(3) Disassemble and clean start-up valves.
(4) Clean interior of the distribution valves.
(5) Clean supercharger air filter.

Semi-annual Inspection

(1) Check lubricating oil level and fill if necessary.
(2) Check bearing grease and oil level and fill if necessary.
(3) Withdraw and analyze a sample of fuel. Semi-annual
(4) Measure deflection (1 crank only).
(5) Tighten exterior fixing bolts.
(6) Check working order of the protective mechanisms (flow relays, pressure switch, temperature switch, etc).

Every 1-2 years

(1) Replace lubricating oil.
(2) Replace bearing grease and oil.
(3) Disassemble and inspect fuel jet valves.
(4) Align start-up valve sheet.
(5) Measure deflection (all cranks).
(6) Tighten installation bolts in crank case.
(7) Check crank case oil pipes.

Every 2-4 years

(1) Disassemble and inspect distribution valves.
(2) Disassemble and inspect intake and exhaust valves. Align sheet.
(3) Clean supercharger impeller.
(4) Disassemble and service governor.
(5) Inspect and clean piston rings and oil rings. Replace only the top ring.
(6) Check and clean interior of the cylinder liner.
(7) Inspect and clean piston pin.
(8) Inspect crank pin and metal.
(9) Disassemble and inspect supercharger, replace ball bearings.
